Basic pages are for generic content such as About pages, rather than content that is of a specific type (like Events or Resources). There are no special fields on basic pages like there are in other content types. Basic pages can also be easily added to the navigation menu because they are often used for section landing pages or informational content.
To add a basic page to your site you must be logged in. Navigate using the black admin menu bar at the top of any page to Content > Add content > Basic page (at node/add/page).
Fields on basic page content
The Title field is the only required field for basic pages. The title will be displayed at the top of the page when it is viewed and will have semantic markup as Heading Level 1, which is important for search engines and screen readers.
You may also add Slideshow Images or a Main Image to your page.
The Body field is where you will type your content. Many different formatting options are available, including adding images into the body content.
Menu settings are to the right. To create a menu link for the page, check the Provide a menu link box.
Remember to save!
Any content you create is temporary until you press the Save button at the bottom of the create content form.
You may also want to add content to the navigation menu or configure different publishing options before you save.
